Japanese food, Chinese concert and hot chocolate

How come could I have possibly forgotten about the last Saturday? Anyway, last Saturday my friends and I got together at Yokozuma restaurant to taste almost forgotten taste of Japanese cuisine. The plan after going to the restaurant was to go to Fringe Theatre (on Whyte Ave) to watch Chinese concert/set of performances (Nan, our dear friend was supposed to perform a song as well).

It was raining when I got out of my house to meet the rest of people. As usual, there was Dylan there and later on George, Azusa, Iljoo and Haruka joined us. We took off to Yokozuma...on our way this "cute" couple caught my attention: In fact it was Iljoo holding on to George's hands trying to protect herself from rain. View image

I liked Yokozuma. Our Japanese friends commented on the interior that really looked like a Japanese dining room. Even Dylan and George looked very Japanese to me.
I ordered Sushi and some sort of soup...it wasn't enough to fell full but the point of going to this place was to taste food, feel the Japanese atmosphere and enjoy the company. View image
After this supper we went to the theatre to watch the show. Of course I was expecting people to talk Chinese to me; I nodded my head if someone needed my approval or simply kept silent until everybody around me realized I wasn't Chinese at all, though I looked like I was. The show started with funny jokes: everybody laughed so I laughed too. There was some singing and dancing, but I really enjoyed the dragon dance and Nan's performance. dlya bloga.jpg

We left earlier with our Japanese and Korean friends. On our way back it was freezing and surely we needed a shelter and something to warm up with, so stopped at one of the little pubs for a cup of hot chocolate. The nostalgic atmosphere was really pleasant as leaned back and got immersed in my thoughts. I felt very relaxed sitting in the old mahogany chair and listening to soft murmuring of the surrounding.
When I came home and started uploading the pictures from the camera, this particular photograph seemed very unusual to m. Jjust look at the way light created chiaroscuro effect on the face of this very photogenic person who was sitting right across our table, I was quite surprised how an accidental snapshot can capture a frozen moment in the midst of motion: chiaroscuro.jpg
